With online storage devices and mobile computing more common than ever, finding a way of making sure your folders and files are in sync is becoming increasingly difficult.
PowerFolder aims to make your life a bit easier by automatically keeping files in sync between multiple computers. This includes everything from documents to photos. Once installed, you're prompted to setup PowerFolder account which is pretty persistent until you do so. Once done, you can link-to and setup other computers to sync with using the self-explanatory toolbar at the top. To invite other users, simply send them an e-mail via PowerFolder or a link in your personal mail.
You can then configure exactly how you want PowerFolder to backup your files such as automatically in the background or manually. Via the friend list, you can also choose to share your files or folders with a specific user by entering their IP address. Generally, PowerFolder works excellently and is a well thought out product. However, it is based on Java and this proved problematic when browsing to files on my machine . The file browser would take ages to respond before finally offering me the chance to select which files I want to backup.
PowerFolder is a well designed and user friendly backup solution but you may experience some problems with the Java based interface.q
